Virtual Visits

Brought on by the pandemic, virtual visits are the most common way we see our patients to prevent spread of the COVID virus. Virtual visits work well for some type of appointments but not all. We will continue to review how best to see our patients in the upcoming months.

The simplest of virtual visits involves a telephone call back to you. The other type of virtual visit is done by video. The information below will help you understand the different types of virtual visits. Note that you will always have a virtual visit first and the doctor will determine if we need to see you in the clinic. In addition, most of the time you will have a telephone visit first before a video visit since a video visit takes some planning.

Telephone Virtual Visit:

This visit is done by telephone. As a patient of our centre, please call our number 519-472-9670 as usual to schedule and appointment. You will be given an approximate time when the doctor will give you a call back. We will do our best to ensure that the same doctor who you have been following returns your call. Please be aware that this may not always be possible during this pandemic. You will still be given the best medical care. Also, it is very important for you to make sure our receptionist receives your correct phone number (preferably mobile)

Video Virtual Visit:

Please read the section on Telephone Virtual Visits above first since most of that applied to a Video Virtual Visit as well.

A Video Virtual Visit is done by video using the secure OTN (Ontario Telehealth Network). Your email will be required for this visit so that OTN can send you the proper information on how to do a video OTN visit with your doctor. You can do a video OTN visit using your computer, laptop, mobile device (like an ipad) or your smartphone. Your device will need to have a camera and microphone. If you use a mobile device or your smartphone, you will be required to install the video app that OTN uses for your session. This app can also be used for future sessions. Also, you will be given a specific time for the appointment to start your OTN session with your doctor. For more information on OTN Virtual Visits (or evisits), please click here.
